Hi there, I am trying to configure my Gmail account with Windows Live Desktop Beta and it just doesn't work. I followed Gmails instructions on their site but everytime I try to sync or connect I get this error:
Account: 'xxxxxxx@gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '220 mx.gmail.com ESMTP i5sm403078nzi', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
I put the x's in there just so you know. And yeah, I am not sure why it isn't working. I configured my Gmail account to use POP so it should work. Any help will be appreciated thanks!

I looked and both ports are like that.

you have to enable pop access to gmail from the settings in your gmail account. just sign in to your gmail acount, click on setting, click on pop and forewarding tab, youll see where it says to enable pop access.

Already did that. Could it be a firewall issue? or a Router issue? I don't have a firewall aside from Windows Firewall but my router could be plocking those ports. So, yeah, not sure yet. > >
I'm not sure I'm getting this correctly, but I've looked at the Windows Live Desktop Beta, and it doesn't seem like they've released it yet. Also, it says it has built-in Gmail webmail support, so it seems like you wouldn't need to use a pop server. However, if webmail doesn't work, make sure both the incoming and outgoing servers require ssl and the outgoing server requires authentication.

It's is already released - nobody here is trying to configure a non-existing software.

So, what other server should you use??? Gmail is not a HTTP mail but POP-based mail; WLMD sopports Gmail the same way it supports other POP3 and IMAP-based mail providers.
However, if webmail doesn't work, make sure both the incoming and outgoing servers require ssl and the outgoing server requires authentication.
Agree.
I am putting down my Gmail configuration which is working perfectly. Try to go through all the parameters one-by-one - hope it will solve the problem.
Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Incoming mail server: E-mail Username: xxxxxxxx@gmail.com Secure password authentication (SSL): no
Outgoing mail server: Requires authentication: yes
Server port numbers: Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465 Requires secure connection (SSL): yes Incoming mail (POP3): 995 Requires secure connection (SSL): yes
Let us know if this will work for you.
k.
did you already check "This requires SSL..." on incoming and outgoing?
